Blind Beginnings’ mission is to inspire children and youth who are blind or partially sighted and their families through diverse programs, experiences, counseling and peer support, and opportunities to create fulfilling lives.
At Blind Beginnings, we strive to uphold the following set of values:
- Build a diverse and inclusive community
- Value and respect all abilities
- Lead by example
- Empower through growth and learning
- Challenge the limits of possibility
- Adapt and persevere
Even though diversity and inclusion are and always have been integral parts of the core Blind Beginnings values, we do of course recognize that there is always room for us to grow, listen, learn and participate in support of anti-racism. For this reason, we have formed a Diversity Committee that consists of board and staff members in order for us to take meaningful action in support of Black Lives Matter and other organizations that work against systemic racism against Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC).
